Location : Mistissini, Ouje-Bougoumou, Waswanipi, Waskaganish, Eastmain, Nemaska, Wemindji, Radisson.


Eeyou Communications Network is seeking eager and interested employees at least 18 years of age or older to work as installation technicians for fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services.

Applicants should have completed Secondary 3 level. Installation technicians will be responsible for the installation of fiber optic cables to the homes. They will be required to assist technical specialists in the installation process and will observe techniques in fibre management. They will also provide translation services when necessary (Cree).

Installation technicians at ECN must have excellent customer service skills into action as you provide direct support and guidance and respond to customer inquiries related to our products and services.

The positions are for a determined duration of 3 to 6 months, after which some full-time positions might become available.

A five day paid training is necessary.


• Install TV, telephone and Internet service at customer’s home and explain the basics of the services to the customer;

• Undertake fibre optic network deployment works;

• Wire poles and buildings with appropriate tools;

• Perform tests;

• Use specialized equipment for analysis and repair;

• Fix the fibre optic wiring;

• Carry out basic verification and maintenance;

• Work in collaboration with the Operation Analyst;

• Fill out work order forms on an electronic device (smartphone or Ipad);

• Drive a work vehicle;

• Any other related tasks.


• Asset: Vocational Diploma in electronics – Cable and Telecommunication Equipment Repairer or an equivalent diploma;

• Asset: experience installing cabling in homes;

• Any other relevant experience.


• Good physical condition;

• Bilingual French/English preferred;

• Speaking Cree is an asset.


40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Under the responsibility of the IP/MPLS Network and IT Manager, the Network Operations Analyst, monitors the network and coordinates incident management and change management in collaboration internal and external resources.


• Responsible for monitoring the continuous operation of the network and its services;

• Solve technical problems efficiently, escalating complex issues, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams;

• Proactively work to prevent future problems;

• Elaboration and maintenance of resolution processes;

• Implement and follow processes using ticketing software and alerting systems;

• Assure proper follow-up of issues, document and close tickets;

• Assure efficient communications with customers and partners;

• Customer support for managed services;

• Participate to network and service provisioning activities;

• Complete escalation of hardware problems and obtain support from manufacturers;

• Produce reports and performance statistics;

• Participate to general IT maintenance including systems, servers, databases;

• Any other related tasks;


• First cycle university diploma in a related discipline OR a technical DEC in a related discipline accompanied by solid experience;

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in Telecommunications or IP Networking;

• Experience in Ethernet troubleshooting (OSI Layer 2);

• Experience with automatic alerting and paging systems (ex: Nagios, Solarwinds, Monitis, Pagerduty, VictorOps; Opsgenie);

• Practical knowledge of networking protocols (IP,BGP,OSPF,ISIS,MPLS, 802.1Q, 802.1ad - QinQ), VPN services (EPIPE,VPLS,VPRN,IES), Internet services (SMTP, DNS, reverse-DNS), Internet IPv4 allocation/assignment, and basic knowledge of IPv6;

• Knowledge of synchronous protocols (SONET/SDH) is considered an asset;

• Knowledge of firewall, security equipment, and security standards is considered an asset;

• Understanding of Fiber Optic networks and equipment (transmission, amplification) is considered an asset;

• Experience with Network Management Systems (ex: NOKIA 5620SAM);

• Experience with NOKIA Service Router (SR) infrastructure is considered an asset;

• Experience with Optical Systems is considered an asset;

• Experience with Fixed Access Systems (Ex: Nokia ISAM FX) is considered an asset

• NOKIA NRS Certification, Cisco CCNA or an equivalent certification is considered an asset;

• Knowledge of information technology management standards (ex: ITIL) is considered an asset;

• Knowledge of QoS and triple-play concepts is considered an asset;

40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM. On call 24/7 for emergencies.
